Sex Addiction treatment requires a counselor with specialized training.
We are Certified Sex Addiction Therapists (CSAT) with decades of experience successfully helping people with Problematic Sexual Behaviors. While other counselors may say they can help, unless they are credentialed by a recognized program, you may spend a lot of time and money and end up not getting the help you need.
The CSAT’s at Boise Counseling Center are certified by the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). This is a cutting-edge training and certification program built around academic study, experiential training, supervision, and assessment competence.
In the early 1980’s, Dr. Patrick Carnes published Out of the Shadows, raising awareness about sexual compulsivity and addiction, earning himself a reputation as the leading expert in his field. As Dr. Carnes’ popularity grew, addiction practitioners began associating their practices with him and it became apparent that a standard of training and certification was necessary.
Steven Lanzet was one of the first group of therapists to be trained and certified by Dr. Carnes and IITAP. As the need grew, Steven obtained his credentials to supervise and help many others get the training and experience they need to be become CSAT’s. He has been clinical director for both inpatient, outpatient, and private practice sex addiction treatment programs.
Victor Durnil received his CSAT over 10 years ago, and along with Steven Lanzet, has made Boise Counseling Center the premier place to get help with sex and porn addiction in Boise and the Treasure Valley area.
In recent times, we have added telehealth and online resources to help other clients in Idaho who may not have local resources available.
Compulsive sexual behavior (CSB) is a recognized diagnosis in the ICD 11, one of the recognized standards that many mental health clinicians use.
CSB is defined as “a persistent pattern of failure to control intense, repetitive sexual impulses, or urges resulting in repetitive sexual behavior.
